Tayside Police can confirm
that a post mortem examination has been undertaken today
(Thursday, July 2) on a four-week- old baby boy who died
suddenly at a flat in Dundee earlier this week.
The examination took place at Yorkhill Hospital in Glasgow
this morning and the infant’s death is still being described
as unexplained at this time, pending the results of tests
taken at the post mortem.
Police officers were called to a flat in Buttars Place in
the Charleston area of Dundee shortly after 3am on Tuesday,
June 30. Ambulance staff had also attended at the address,
but tragically the child was later declared dead at the
city’s Ninewells Hospital.
Tayside Police will not formally name the child or release
his details at this time and a full report will be submitted
to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.
