Lot of talk here about gangs and the recurring mention of Lochee.
I left Dundee In 58 and went to sea; then to Canada so can not comment on " gang situation "after that date .

But for the Lochee crowd this may be a bit of a pick Up.

A while ago I used to drink at lunch time in " The Bank Bar "in Hull Quebec. ( Name and location were good; also It was one of the few places in Canada where a man could go for a Pee and stand on Scottish Soil ). Maybe the ONLY place.
ANY WAY .
One St Andrews Day I was having My beer when Wee JimmY from Lochee came thro from the pool hall side of the pub. Just to share a pint and remember Scotland.
When somebody pointed out that I wore a Rampant Lion ON my sweater and he wore a Tiger.

So I asked him the question. Why ?

Answer ----- 140 miles on his own for seven months behind the Japaneese lines in Burma.

Now that says a lot aboot the real hard men in Lochee.
When I got Back to Canada after a wee trip to the Falklands HIS big question was " Is the railway bridge over the street still There " Hard as nails and still sentimental.

good call imadee. There are not one but 2 soul discos this very weekend in Dundee. Seems to be having a bit of a resurgence. Jim Kenny died the other week too. The opening riffs of " on my way" still manage to make my hair stand on end, think its something to do with acoustics, and how it would be played in a half empty marryat hall.

Loc: Thinking of emigrating to Fife
I’m working with a guy from Keighley in Yorkshire ( Leeds) , his dad was a Dj at Wigan Casino.
Sadly his dad is dead, but he has all his original vinyl collection.
No its not for sale I asked.

Funny how little things just seem to come together in later life.
