A
20-year-old Dundee man who robbed a garage at knifepoint admitted his guilt
within minutes, calling 999, the court heard.
Andrew Mulholland, Balunie Drive, admitted that on February 9 at the
Shell Garage, Scott Fyffe roundabout, he assaulted Nagaraja Ede, presented a
knife at him and robbed him of £22 and cigarettes.
He also admitted having a knife in Huntly Square on the same date. The court
was told he went into the garage at around 8.1Opm and told the assistant, Mr
Ede, to "open the till, open the till."
Initially Mr Ede believed Mulholland was looking for change and refused to
open the till for him. Mulholland produced a knife from his jacket pocket
and held it in front of him, saying, "Open the till and give me the money."
The knife which was seven inches long, with a two-inch blade. But, out of
sight, Mr Ede dropped a large quantity of cash on the floor, leaving one £20
note and coins in the tray.
Mulholland took the money, asked for cigarettes and ran off towards Kingsway
East. At around 8.40pm, Mulholland called 999 and said he was responsible.
He later told officers, "I ran off towards Asda and that's when it all hit
me and I called the police." He said that he had split up with his
girlfriend of four years the previous July and was not taking it well.
The case was continued until June 8.

Ryan Paul Hunter (30), c/o Dundee Survival Group, Foundry Lane, was
jailed for three months.
He had admitted stealing £ 1 0 worth of toiletries from Poundland, Wellgate
centre, on February 21. He had also admitted stealing £30 worth of
aftershave from Boots, Reform Street, on May 5.
Solicitor Kris Gilmartin said Hunter was desperate to be put on a drug
treatment and testing order (DTIO) to help him with his heroin habit, but
Sherriff Elizabeth Munro said Hunter had been given two chances to be
assessed for such an order and failed to turn up on both occasions.
However, she told Hunter that she was prepared to see if his attitude had
changed and would send him to prison on the February 21 charge and defer
sentence on the other until June 24.
She may then consider the possibility of a final chance of a DITO.

John
Omeara (34), of Elders Court, admitted he was concerned in the supply of
heroin on December 16 at his home.
Depute fiscal Gavin Callaghan said the amount recovered was 27.8 grams, with
a potential maximum illicit value of £2780 If broken down into £10 deals.
Solicitor Paul Parker Smith said that the accused paid £880 for the drugs.
The case was continued until June 8.

Ian King (23), of Laird Street, Dundee, will appear for trial on June 3.
He denies that between November 1 and February 17 at an address in Laird
Street and at various places in Perth and Kinross, he breached the peace by
repeatedly. phoning a woman, making comments and leaving messages that were
indecent, placing her in a state of fear and alarm.
He was remanded in custody and is due to return to court on May 28.
