Yip - nicely said Stuart .... what a ridiculous reaction from the Scottish Government - it's either plain naiviety or hysteria (or both - yes likely both).

A great idea that every town and city should adopt to name and shame the low life that bring misery to the decent minded people of Scotland,
Its time to end soft option Scotland and put the scum where they belong...........

I have always said "if you punish an offender with freedom i.e. bail, driving bans etc., you wont be surprised if they commit further crimes! Good for you, expose as many as you can and more power to your elbow!

When will people begin to realise, firstly, that there is masses of evidence to demonstrate to anyone who has an open mind that putting people in prison does not stop offending - or only temporarily; and secondly that it is an extremely expensive option.

Surely as a society we should be looking for more imaginative solutions to offending and re-offending than merely "lock them up and throw away the key"?

I think the police do alright actually. They try their best but it must be frustrating as feck for them when they've put in a lot of work and the Fiscal and/or the courts/sheriffs drop cases or hand out [censored]-poor sentences.

i suppose you have facts and figures to support your claim the police in Dundee do nothing? if so id be keen to read these. what exactly are you doing to support them with the near impossible task of keeping Dundee crime free? don't you think police in Dundee get frustrated when their hard work ends up with a scandalous conviction by local sheriff's? it easy to criticise behind some web forum so why don't you try speaking to them direct and maybe you can advise them on how best to police this city?
